Frequently asked questions

The short answers to what sailors ask most. Still stuck? Links to the details are at the bottom.

What is sailingwego?
sailingwego is a social sailing logbook. You record voyages with photos, routes, weather, and crew, then share them — publicly, with friends, or keep them private. Everyone you sailed with earns the miles and the entry on their own profile.
How do I sign in? Do I need a password?
There are no passwords. Enter your email and we send you a one-time magic link. Click it and you are signed in. The link is single-use and expires shortly after it is sent, so request a fresh one if it has been a while.
How are nautical miles tracked?
Each log records the distance of the voyage in nautical miles. That distance counts toward the total on your profile, and — because crew co-own a log — toward the total of everyone who was aboard. Your profile keeps a running cached total of the miles you have logged.
What does crew co-ownership mean?
When you tag someone as crew on a log, that voyage appears on their profile too and they earn its nautical miles, not just the person who wrote it. Tag only people who were genuinely aboard. Anyone tagged can remove themselves from a log at any time.
Who can see my logs?
Every log has a privacy setting: Public (anyone, including signed-out visitors and search engines), Friends-only (people you are friends with), or Private (just you and your crew). You can also set your overall profile visibility. Change a log’s privacy any time from its edit page.
How do I delete my account?
Open your account settings and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, boats, logs, and photos. Logs you co-owned as crew remain with the people who were aboard, but you are removed from them.
